The whole idea of blogging is something new to me, and I am not totally sure what to write, so bear with me as we struggle through this first post together.
In early January, a good friend of mine (Morgan) told me of an opportunity to intern abroad in Ireland this summer.I did some research and decided to take the plunge and fill out the never ending piles of paperwork, apply for a passport, and buy a round trip plane ticket to Dublin, Ireland. Two months latter I am officially a student intern through Center for International Studies. I have the wonderful opportunity to spend 8 weeks of my summer helping those in need while gaining valuable work experience.
I have experienced many different emotions over the past few months, but now that it is all official and the fees have been paid, the excitement has started to kick in. As of today I have 79 days until departure. It is so hard to believe how fast time has gone. It seems as though I was just filling out the initial application paperwork, and now I am just weeks away from being in Ireland. I am so excited, but I also have this nagging little feeling in the pit of my stomach. I have never traveled this far from home, traveled by myself, or been out of the United States. I know that this will be one of the best experiences of my life, but I can't help but feel a little nervous.
As my trip approaches I will keep you up to date with all the happenings and exciting news! I'm sure that I will have a lot to share over the next four months, and I cannot wait to see where this experience leads me!
With Love,
Lindsey
